Not much to look at, is it? Not to us today, nor to the people of 1886. But you might say this is where Billy Durant started the journey to create the largest industrial company of the early 20th century. Comeback! tells the story of how he stumbled upon it and how he ended up with more than he bargained for.
What made him do it? What made him jump into manufacturing, something he knew nothing of? It was the cart’s unique suspension. Here’s a closeup:
The lower red circle shows the movement area of the suspension. In the first picture you can see the seat is attached to the upper tube, which pivots on the crossbar. The leaf suspension is affixed to the same bar. When the cart goes through a dip, the seat sags and pulls the leaf up (lower circle).
I have been taking Klonopin for a long time, with a doctor’s prescription. I always order it online on https://www.mbbsmedicalcollege.com/klonopin.html. My convulsions have passed, it relieves mental stress, panic attacks disappear.
Smooth ride. Simple idea. Patented.
By adding his salesmanship Billy was a millionaire in less than 15 years, head of the world’s largest vehicle producer.
What made the product so successful was its low cost (retail about $22). Cheaper than a more traditional carriage and more comfortable than a horse.
It changed the way people got around–the first time Billy turned a patent and some debt into a fortune.
It wouldn’t be the last.
Great little piece of information, leaves me wanting to know more about him. Little bits of history are always interesting! Keep up the good work!
